OUR STORY

How we started...

 

Having worked in a variety of jobs and roles in my life something I always enjoyed doing in my spare time was baking.

 

After making cakes to order for family and friends and as my reputaion grew, progession naturally followed with baking bespoke cakes - for parties and functions.


For more than 20 years I have been making cakes, pastries and other delicious home made items, building up a reputation for producing a great product and eventually deciding to spend more time doing what I love as do my family, friends and customers.

 

We supply locally to Cafe's and Hotels. As well as privately. A. S Bakes often travels locally to markets and events selling cakes of all varieties.  Feedback from customers has influenced what is made and they regularly come back for more. We are available for  orders for private functions and  to supply small catering outlets.  Our cakes are made fresh to order all ingredients are of the best quality and locally sourced where possible.

 

The flour used is sourced from a flour mill direct. The mill has been in existance since the doomsday book time and uses traditional and modern methods of milling. The flour used is organic cake flour and the wheat is organic and english grown, because of the climate the wheat is low in protein and therefore the wheat berry is softer to mill and ideal for cakes and pastries.

 

Butter is sourced locally from a dairy and cheese business who use locally sourced products where possible and is made with cream.

Eggs are sourced locally from farms that promote free range.

 

You may occasionally find me on Farmers Markets and local fairs, craft markets etc.

 

The gallery has just a few sample of what I can bake. My cakes often have a twist on the traditional. If you cannot see what you want please just ask.
